Our vision is a world with zero road death and injury, where we can all move in a safe and healthy way, whoever we are and however we travel. Until our vision becomes a reality, we are working to stop crashes on our roads, reduce harm when a crash happens.
Why road safety is important
• 1.3 million people die on the world’s roads every year
• Road injuries are the single biggest killer of young people aged 5-29 worldwide
• On average, 5 people die every day on UK roads and 84 people are seriously injured
• Road deaths and injuries are devastating events for families, and seriously affect welfare and wellbeing
What Brake does
• Brake’s National Road Victim Service helps more than 1,000 families every year by providing emotional and practical support for victims of road death or serious injury
• Brake provides bereavement packs, guidance and even children’s books to support people in need
• Brake campaigns for safe roads for everyone, calling on the Government to achieve solutions, in line with the Safe System approach to road safety
• Brake also delivers community campaigns and events such as Road Safety Week to raise awareness and provide tools so people can take action to learn about road safety and achieve change
• Brake’s Global Fleet Champions is a global campaign to prevents crashes and reduce pollution caused by vehicles used for work
